Locations: Hart, Grand Rapids and Muskegon, Michigan
Work Arrangement: In person
Openings: Two full-time positions and one part-time position
Internship Season: January through April

At Brickley DeLong, interns are part of the professional team from day one. You will work alongside accountants, managers and partners, receive hands-on training and contribute to meaningful client work throughout tax season.

This internship is designed to connect what you are learning in the classroom with the work performed inside a CPA firm. You will gain practical experience preparing income tax returns, using professional tax software, researching tax questions and learning how experienced professionals approach client service.

As your skills and confidence grow, so will the complexity of your assignments. By the end of the internship, our goal is for you to understand the tax preparation process, confidently complete basic individual income tax returns and communicate effectively with professionals throughout the firm.

What you'll do:

• Prepare primarily individual federal, state and local income tax returns.
• Use nationally recognized tax preparation and research software.
• Organize, enter and review client tax information for accuracy and completeness.
• Work through tax projects from initial preparation through completion.
• Identify questions, inconsistencies and potential tax issues and discuss them with senior team members.
• Make corrections and updates based on review notes and professional feedback.
• Research tax laws and assist with tax-related or consulting projects.
• Communicate with accountants, managers and partners regarding assignments, questions and deadlines.
• Participate in formal training, hands‑on coaching and ongoing feedback.
• Take on increasingly complex assignments as your knowledge develops.

What we're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, taxation, finance, economics or a related field.
• A preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Initiative, curiosity and a willingness to ask questions.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
• The ability to accept feedback and apply it to future assignments.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to work with professionals at all levels of the firm.
• Reliability, professionalism and a team‑oriented mindset.

Schedule and Locations:

We are hiring for three internship openings across our West Michigan offices:

• Hart
• Grand Rapids
• Muskegon

Two positions will follow a full-time schedule, and one position will follow a part‑time schedule.

These are fully in‑person internships with no remote‑work option
. Candidates must be available to work from their assigned Brickley DeLong office and live within a reasonable commuting distance for the duration of the internship.
