In this Part-Time Controller role, you oversee outsourced accounting for multiple nonprofit clients, guiding financial operations and strategic reporting. You'll partner with client staff and boards to drive stronger controls, budgeting, and grants management. The position blends hands-on accounting with advisory leadership, and supports growth within a mission-driven, hybrid work environment. You'll work across virtual and on-site settings, shaping client financial stewardship and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple nonprofit clients
  • Transform client financial departments to support their mission
  • Prepare financial reporting for management and Board decisions
  • Recommend and implement improvements in accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance
  • Manage transactional activities: A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close
  • Conduct analysis, data visualization, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Oversee grant management, allocations, and funder reporting
  • Prepare for and manage annual audits
  • Provide client and staff training opportunities
Key requirements
  • Passion for nonprofit organizations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience in a remote environment preferred
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients independently and responsively
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with multiple GL packages, especially Quick Books, and electronic bill pay systems
  • Non-profit accounting, public accounting, or consulting experience a plus
  • CPA certification a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Availability to work during normal business hours for part-time positions
