Part Time Library Assistant – East Hanover Library

The East Hanover Library has two openings for a part time Library Assistant to work at the Library’s public service desk.

The position is for Tuesday and Thursday or Monday and Wednesday evenings plus one
rotating Saturday per month.

• High school degree minimum.
• Customer service experience.
• Good computer skills are essential. The ability to use the Internet, email, MS Office,
• mobile devices and databases.
  
  Prior library experience and knowledge of KOHA ILS is desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff members.
• Flexibility to cover other shifts.
• Ability to push library carts up to 40 pounds.
• Flexibility to reach lower and upper shelves.

• Charge and discharge material, issue library cards, reserve items, handle
• patron account questions, empty book drop, collect fines.
• Assist library users with computer resources, copy machine, scanner.
• Process mail and newspapers.
• Assist with packing, unpacking and processing Inter Library Loan.
• Assist library users to register for programs.
• Shelve material. Bending and lifting required.
• Perform additional duties as needed or assigned.
