The San Francisco Adult Probation Department (APD) isseekinga qualified and detail-oriented Administrative Clerk to provide essential administrative and office support for Pretrial, Reentry,Violence Response and/or Records and Reception operations.
Under general supervision, you will perform a wide range of clerical duties, ensureaccuraterecordkeeping, and provide professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. This position playsan important rolein supporting the smooth,accurate, and efficient delivery of Adult Probation Department services.

Highly desirable attributes include:
- Experience in a public-service or criminal justice environment
- Background in high-volume records management or front-desk reception
- Strong commitment to supportive and courteous customer service
This position supports critical operations and involves frequent interaction with APD staff, justice-involved individuals, and external agency partners. You must be able to work effectively in a professional, fast-paced environment whilemaintaininghigh accuracy and confidentiality.
Role Description

This position may focus on one or more areas of specialization, including pretrial justice, reentry and rehabilitation, or violence reduction, while contributing to broader system-wide outcomes.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties
In accordance with Civil Service Commission Rule 109, duties include but are not limited to:
- Client & Public Engagement:Serve as the first point of contact for clients, families, survivors, community members, service providers, and the public, creating a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment that builds confidence in APD as a source of assistance, information, and connection to services.
- Front Desk & Division Support:Support daily front-desk and administrative operations for the Restorative and Prevention Division, including Pretrial, Reentry, and Violence Response programs; receive visitors,determine the nature and urgency of requests, and connect individuals with appropriate staff, programs, or resources.
- Service Navigation & Linkage:Assist clients with navigating APD and community resources by providing information about CASC/SFAPD housing, benefits, employment, behavioral health, reentry, and other stabilization services.
- Client Intake & Administrative Support:Assist with client check-in, intake, appointments, forms, service requests, and other administrative processes while ensuring information is accurately documented and appropriately routed for follow-up.
