The Suffern Central School District is seeking a qualified, proactive Administrative Assistant to join the Business Team.
Job DescriptionThis is general administrative work of a moderately complex nature involving the responsibility for independently coordinating and monitoring projects and programs and researching and compiling information to resolve problems. The work is performed under the general direction of a higher-level administrator, with moderate leeway for the exercise of independent judgment. Work guidance (e.g., lead work) may be exercised over others. Does related work as required.
The work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Business.
Minimum Qualifications- An Associate's degree or equivalent college credits (minimum of sixty (60) credits) and four (4) years of paid work experience which involved administrative duties**; or
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher and two (2) years of paid work experience which involved administrative duties**.
NOTE:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus additional years of the required paid work experience may be substituted for the college degree on a year-for-year basis.
** Administrative duties include planning, resource allocation, policy formulation, program evaluation, budgeting and coordinating activities among work units or between agencies, etc.

Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following:
- $68,500-$72,500 Annual Salary (as of 09/01/2026)
- 36.25 hours per week
- Medical, Dental and Vision
- Time off including vacation, personal and holiday time
Effective with Open Competitive examinations held in October 2024, the residency requirements for Rockland County Civil Service Exams has been broadened to applicants residing within the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut at the time of application for the exam. Certain positions may still require residency in Rockland County, surrounding counties or New York State.
