Electronics Technician
Job Summary
The Electronics Technician I is responsible for testing automotive components, developing component test systems, and assisting in various electronic design and development activities. These functions are carried out with excellence and with thoroughness. This position demands attention to detail, accuracy, and technical competence. It also requires some knowledge of automotive electronics and automotive specifications as well as knowledge of test procedures required for automotive parts.
Lastly, it requires an efficient work ethic while maintaining a high level of overall quality.
- Assists in creating new electronic product designs based on customer requests or internal development plans
- Assists with electronic part procurement
- Builds prototypes and test fixtures, modifies circuit boards, and assists in testing
- Assists in the development of electronic component test plans
- Assists in the design and development of test systems
- Performs testing according to test plans or work instructions
- Supports bench level investigations
- Tests final designs at different temperatures
- Conducts experiments, manages and generates accurate records and/or reports of testing completed
- Performs other job related and support activity duties as required

EducationAssociate’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
CertificationsIPC J-STD-001, IPC-7711, IPC-7721 preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities- Superb knowledge/performance of all laboratory technician skills and equipment
- Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, advanced Excel preferred
- Soldering of electronic components and PCB level repair
- Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings
- Advanced knowledge of SMT rework and repair
- Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills

Physical Demand (Special Considerations)While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, kneel/squat, bend, and push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally, they must crawl, handle, and push/pull/lift over 25 lbs.
