Director Of Advancement Services
The Director of Advancement Services provides leadership and oversight of advancement systems, donor data management, and reporting functions that support the University's fundraising and engagement efforts. The position is responsible for establishing data standards, ensuring the integrity and effective use of donor and constituent information, and supporting data-informed decision-making across Advancement. The role serves as the primary institutional resource for advancement systems and data practices, working both within Advancement and across campus to support consistent and effective management of constituent relationships.
This position operates with a high degree of independence and is responsible for translating data into meaningful information that helps guide fundraising priorities, donor engagement strategies, and overall advancement effectiveness. FUNCTIONS:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads administration, configuration, and ongoing optimization of the advancement CRM system to ensure it effectively supports fundraising, engagement, and institutional relationship management
- Establishes and maintains data governance standards, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and appropriate use of advancement data across the institution
- Develops and manages data quality processes, including routine audits, validation practices, and continuous improvement efforts to maintain integrity of donor and constituent records
- Develops and delivers training for Advancement staff and campus stakeholders on CRM use and data standards, supporting consistent and effective tracking of institutional relationships
- Oversees the management of donor and constituent records within advancement systems, ensuring data is complete, accurate, and appropriately documented
- Partners with the SSU Foundation to support alignment between advancement records and gift processing activities, ensuring donor data is accurately recorded and maintained
- Coordinates with the SSU Foundation on compliance with reporting standards (e.g., CASE, IRS) as they relate to donor records and advancement data
- Develops and maintains procedures to ensure consistency and alignment between advancement data and Foundation-managed financial and gift records
- Leads prospect research and identification efforts, using available data to support fundraising strategy and identify areas of opportunity for donor engagement and growth
- Designs, produces, and maintains reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to support Advancement leadership and institutional stakeholders in tracking fundraising activity and outcomes
- Analyzes advancement data to identify trends, gaps, and areas requiring attention, and provides recommendations to support fundraising priorities and improve effectiveness
- Works with Advancement leadership and staff to support portfolio development and management, using data to guide engagement strategies and track progress
- Oversees institutional and external reporting (e.g., campaigns, board reports, surveys), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and appropriate presentation of advancement data
Skills And Abilities
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Experience with database systems
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users
Experience developing reports and dashboards for the decision-making process
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
3 to 6 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree; experience in higher education advancement; experience with Raiser's Edge; familiarity with CASE reporting standards and fundraising best practices Working Conditions Normal office environment; occasional travel, evening and weekend work required.
