Shreveport Opera is seeking applications from highly motivated individuals interested in Arts Administration to serve as a Generalist in a small, fast-moving, and dynamic office.
The Generalist position will be involved in all aspects of Shreveport Opera's operations, will work closely with Patron Services, Artists Services, Production, Grants, Marketing, and Development, and will report directly to the General and Artistic Director. This position is especially well-suited for recent Arts Administration graduates or individuals looking to transition into Arts Administration.
The Generalist will serve as administrative support primarily for the General and Artistic Director. Job duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Box office- Ticket sales, report generation, credit card reconciliation, ticket-taking during events, etc.
- Assisting the Patron Services Manager with patron requests
- Assisting the Patron Services Manager with school show bookings
- Cataloguing and maintaining a database of teacher evaluations
- Assisting the Shreveport Opera Xpress ("SOX") artists
- Creating and maintaining a database of individual donors
- Creating and maintaining a database of corporate donors
- Quality control on all development materials (e.g., underwriting prospectuses, donor lists for programs, etc.)
- Assisting the Grant Writer in maintaining a calendar of deadlines
- Assisting the Grant Writer in assembling application materials
- Researching new grant opportunities to present to the Grant Writer and General and Artistic Director
- Maintaining a database of grants
- Assuring the accuracy of the grants listed in print programs and online
- Assisting the Technical Director in locating and purchasing items for productions and school shows
- Assisting the General and Artistic Director in researching production and/or costume rentals for upcoming shows
- Booking flights, hotels or homestays, and rental cars for incoming artists
- Liaising with homestay volunteers to organize homestays
- Meeting incoming artists at the airport and assisting them with rental cars
- Assist the General and Artistic Director with marketing strategies as they relate to television, radio, print, and social media
- Design and maintain social media campaigns
- Quality control for all marketing materials, press releases, social media posts, etc.
And, other duties as assigned by the General and Artistic Director...
Salary: $40,000; exempt (office hours are 9:00-5:00 pm M-F with occasional nights and weekends required)
Benefits:
Healthcare, two-weeks paid time off (accumulated monthly from start date), non-local hires may request moving assistance up to $5,000 (with receipts).
