Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief of Staff serves as a senior leader, strategic partner, and trusted advisor to the President and CEO, operating as an extension of the CEO’s leadership across the organization.

Operating at the intersection of strategy, execution, governance, and communication, the Chief of Staff ensures alignment, accountability, and disciplined follow-through on enterprise priorities.

As an enterprise integrator, the Chief of Staff strengthens executive team effectiveness, coordinates and accelerates cross-functional execution, and supports strong internal and external partnerships—advancing IHI’s mission, global impact, and long-term sustainability.

This is a senior strategic Chief of Staff role designed to strengthen the effectiveness of the CEO and executive team by improving alignment, decision-making, communication, and follow-through on enterprise priorities. The role requires exceptional organization, preparation, judgment, discretion, and attention to detail, and its primary focus is on strategic partnership, enterprise coordination, and executive decision support rather than day-to-day administrative support.

The Chief of Staff position is also not intended to be a standalone transformation leadership role or a Chief Operating Officer position. The Chief of Staff works through influence, trusted relationships, executive partnership, and cross-functional enterprise coordination rather than direct operational ownership of functions or teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Serve as a primary strategic advisor and thought partner to the CEO on enterprise priorities, organizational performance, and critical decisions
• Drive enterprise-wide alignment on strategy, culture, and outcomes in partnership with the CEO and executive team
• Manage the flow of strategic issues and decisions, ensuring CEO focus on highest-value priorities
• Synthesize complex information into clear insights, risks, and actionable recommendations
• Prepare and position the CEO for high-stakes engagements, decisions, and stakeholder interactions
• Represent the CEO and, as appropriate, the organization, in internal and external engagements
• Act as an enterprise integrator—surfacing risks, resolving tensions, and ensuring alignment across leadership priorities

• Drive and support enterprise-wide priorities and transformation efforts in partnership with accountable executive owners
• Translate strategy into coordinated action, measurable outcomes, and sustained impact
• Apply strong executive, business, and financial acumen to inform decisions and evaluate tradeoffs
• Coordinate and accelerate cross-functional execution, proactively surfacing barriers and managing interdependencies
• Monitor enterprise initiatives, risks, and key performance indicators, elevating issues and recommending course corrections
