Dean Dorton’s Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) team helps clients navigate complex financial situations with confidence and clarity. Through forensic accounting, business valuation, and litigation support, our professionals provide trusted insight during investigations, disputes, and strategic decision-making events. Combining deep technical expertise with sound judgment, the team delivers credible analyses, defensible results, and objective guidance when the stakes are high.
About the RoleThe FVS Consultant serves as a key contributor to client engagements, performing complex financial analyses and supporting expert testimony and advisory work. This role involves increasing responsibility for client interaction, project execution, and technical analysis.
As a Consultant, you will lead defined sections of engagements, analyze and interpret financial and operational data, and assist in developing expert reports and courtroom exhibits. You will also mentor Associates, manage portions of projects, and help strengthen the FVS practice through continuous process improvement and knowledge sharing.
This position is ideal for a professional with a strong technical foundation who is ready to expand their expertise in forensic accounting, business valuation, and litigation support while developing leadership and client-facing skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities TechnicalDefinition:
Specialized knowledge and expertise associated with the work performed for or with clients.
- Perform detailed business valuations for transaction, tax, financial reporting, and litigation purposes.
- Conduct forensic investigations involving allegations of fraud, economic damages, and financial misconduct.
- Analyze complex financial data, business operations, and tax filings to identify trends, risks, and key value drivers.
- Build and refine valuation and damages models using advanced Excel functions and financial modeling techniques.
- Assist in developing client deliverables, including expert reports, financial exhibits, and visual presentations.
- Conduct market, industry, and economic research using databases such as Capital IQ, Pitch Book, and IBISWorld.
- Apply valuation methodologies (income, market, and asset-based approaches) and document underlying assumptions and rationale.
- Support expert witnesses and senior team members in preparing testimony and trial materials.
