Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is looking for an FSA with experience in health actuarial work with a focus on Value Based Payments (VBP) in government programs (Medicare, Medicaid). The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational talents. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to lead a team of dedicated consultants are also necessary for success.

We provide extensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Perform analysis of healthcare data

• Supervise actuarial students and less-experienced actuaries in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects

What We’re Looking For

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
• 7+ years of healthcare actuarial experience, with at least four (4) years in a consulting or advisory role supporting health plans, state Medicaid agencies, or ACOs.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with VBP arrangements (e.g., shared savings, capitation, and other provider risk arrangements).
• Minimum of three (3) years leading Medicare and/or Medicaid program VBP work, including delegating work to and mentoring junior staff.
• Experience with current Medicare and Medicaid VBP programs (REACH/LEAD, MSSP, AHEAD, TEAM, managed Medicaid or Medicare Advantage provider risk) is a plus.
• Proficiency with Excel
• Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, or R
• Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
• Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way
