The Unit Leader at Girl Scout Summer Camp plays a central role in guiding the camp experience, creating an inspiring and safe space where girls can explore, connect, and grow. In collaboration with the Program Director and dedicated program staff, the Unit Leader oversees the planning, organization, and implementation of enriching activities that meets the standards of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO), the American Camp Association (ACA).

Leading a team of Unit Counselors, this role provides mentorship, manages unit logistics, and ensures all campers have access to engaging, high-quality programming. As a key leader and role model, the Unit Leader helps campers embrace new challenges, form meaningful friendships, and build lasting memories. This role requires a proactive, compassionate leader who can navigate diverse situations with skill and positivity, ensuring each camper’s summer is not only safe but truly transformative.

The Unit Counselor plays a vital role in delivering a transformative camp experience that nurtures personal growth, fosters resilience, and cultivates a meaningful connection to each other and the natural world. In partnership with fellow counselors and under the guidance of the Unit Leader, this position creates a vibrant environment that embodies the Girl Scout values of courage, confidence, and character.

Through thoughtfully designed and engaging activities, the Unit Counselor challenges and uplifts every camper, ensuring an experience rich with camaraderie, friendship-building, and lasting memories. As a mentor and guide, the Unit Counselor supports campers in navigating daily activities, developing new skills, and forming friendships, while upholding the highest standards set by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO), and the American Camp Association (ACA).

The Day Camp Counselor collaborates with fellow counselors and the Day Camp Director to design and deliver engaging, high-quality day camp programming that meets the standards of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO), the American Camp Association (ACA). This role works directly with campers, ensuring their safety and well-being while providing a fun, memorable experience rooted in Girl Scout values.

As both a mentor and guide, the Day Camp Counselor supports campers in navigating their daily activities, fostering skill development, and forming meaningful connections, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and positive behavior management.
