Caring for children birth to three in a center based setting. Supervising Caregiver Assistant. Primary caregiver for infants/toddlers in a classroom setting. Implement a planned center curriculum for developmentally appropriate activities with infant/toddlers. Encourage parents/guardians and offer suggestions for child development activities.
Responsibilities- Acquire knowledge of and implement the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Promote school readiness for all children.
- Understand the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
- Work cooperatively with other Child Development staff in planning, integration, and implementation of EHS/HS program services for children 0 to 5 years of age.
- Become competent in the use of designated computer programs, and use them properly in the operations of the Child Development Program.
- Compile designated reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in the annual program self‑assessment process.
- Gain a working knowledge of all programs operated by KCEOC for providing information, making referrals and delivering integrated services to clients.
- Preserve privacy of all children and families by maintaining confidentiality and security of all family information.
- Generate an appropriate amount of non‑federal share (in‑kind) that is reasonable and necessary for the operation of the Child Development Program.
- Maintain certification (e.g., American Heart Association or American Red Cross) in CPR and First Aid and Safety.
- Participate and offer suggestions in conferences, meetings, training, and recruitment activities.
- Obtain the annual required number of Child Development training hours through KCEOC’s Pre‑service Training.
- Provide services to infants and toddlers in a center‑based setting.
- Work cooperatively with staff, parents, and volunteers; be responsive to the challenge of providing integrated comprehensive services.
- Implement a planned center curriculum for developmentally appropriate activities with infant/toddlers, developing individualized daily lesson plans, weekly universal lesson plans, and other appropriate educational activities involving parents.
- Maintain a clean, safe, age‑appropriate learning environment in the classroom.
- Be responsive to children and families with special needs or disabling conditions; maintain flexible work schedules to accommodate families.
- Assist parents in understanding the transitional process from Early Head Start into another child development program and coordinate transition meetings.
- Recognize that parents are the primary factor in the child’s development.
- Assist in recruitment, take applications, and enroll Early Head Start children; communicate problems to the Infant Toddler Education Specialist.
- Be assigned as primary caregiver for four children in the classroom.
- Gain a working knowledge of community and regional resources and communicate new resources to the Infant/Toddler Pre‑K Education Specialist and staff.
- Assist families in utilizing available health care, encourage appropriate medical and dental screenings, and arrange follow‑up; assist with appointments, transportation, and maintain documentation.
- Prioritize activities reflecting effective case management; eliminate unnecessary or duplicate travel time and costs.
- Work with Child Development staff to assess and meet the needs of enrolled children and families.
