Infant Teacher

Job Goals

To provide high-quality care and supervision to infants and toddlers in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.

To assist in designing and implementing a comprehensive program of activities that meet the individual needs of each child and support their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Ensure a safe and sanitary classroom by maintaining cleanliness, organizing toys, and keeping the changing area clutter-free and clean.

Engage in regular cleaning, washing, and disinfecting of toys (especially mouthed toys) to maintain a hygienic environment.

Clean up after meals and snacks to keep the classroom tidy.

Provide care and supervision to children by meeting their individual needs, responding promptly to their requests, and assisting them in their endeavors as appropriate.

Foster the child s developmental process by avoiding providing too much help and instead allowing for trial and error in the child s explorations.

Monitor children s development and behavior, make appropriate observations to inform parents and colleagues of any concerns, and collaborate with colleagues to design intervention plans if necessary.

Notify the Site Director immediately if unable to attend work due to illness.

Design and implement a comprehensive program of activities that meets the individual needs of each child, fosters their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, and supports their interests and strengths.

Ensure that the program of activities is developmentally appropriate and follows the guidelines for early childhood education.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the program of activities is comprehensive and addresses all aspects of children s development.

Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay up-to-date with best practices and emerging trends in early childhood education.

Act professionally at all times by maintaining a professional demeanor, dressing appropriately, and communicating effectively.

Interact positively and respectfully with children, parents, and colleagues to create a harmonious and supportive environment.

Attend parent meetings, staff meetings, and training sessions to stay informed of developments, share information, and learn from colleagues.

Arrive at work punctually to ensure smooth transitions for children and colleagues.

Maintain confidentiality at all times by not disclosing sensitive information and avoiding gossip and negative talk.

Promote teamwork by collaborating with colleagues, sharing responsibilities, and supporting each other.

Show flexibility, punctuality, and good judgment in all work-related activities.

Follow instructions given by the Site Director and act in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.

Establish and maintain a professional image by being courteous, respectful, and attentive to children s needs and interests.

Be trustworthy, loyal, attentive, and loving to children at all times.

Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.

Good mental and physical health and stamina to work with young children in an active and engaging environment.

12 ECE Units; 3 units of the 12 MUST BE in Infant care

A minimum of two years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed child care facility or a related setting.

Knowledge of best practices in early childhood education and development.

Ability to interact positively and respectfully with children, parents, and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
