Traffic Management Operative – Christchurch.
We’re looking for a reliable and safety focused Traffic Management Operative (TMO) to support our roading and infrastructure projects across the region. If you enjoy hands on work, teamwork, and making a real impact on community safety, this could be the role for you.
About the RoleAs a TMO, you’ll help deliver safe and compliant temporary traffic management on worksites. You’ll work closely with STMS, crews, subcontractors, and the public to ensure traffic flows smoothly and everyone on site stays safe.
This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in the civil and roading industry, with plenty of variety in your day to day work.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Setting up, operating, and maintaining temporary traffic management equipment
- Reading and interpreting TMPs
- Supporting the STMS with daily planning
- Operating plant and equipment (once trained and competent)
- Traffic control duties including Stop/Go operations
- Assisting with pilot vehicle driving, mower operations, litter collection, and EMP replacements
- Completing required documentation accurately
- Communicating professionally with the public, clients, and your team
- Ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards
- A Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 is a bonus)
- Good understanding of safe working practices on site
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others
- A positive attitude, honesty, and reliability
