About Prairie Landworks:

Prairie Landworks is a growing contractor delivering civil infrastructure, industrial, and commercial building projects across central Kansas. We provide complete construction solutions — from site development and utilities to commercial buildings and industrial facilities.

We don’t just build to plan and spec — we build with character and integrity, delivering the quality we would expect if we were building for ourselves.

Unlike many general contractors, we self-perform portions of our work — including earthwork, utilities, and concrete. This allows us to maintain control, accountability, and predictable performance in the field.

Teamwork, optimism, and hard work are at the heart of everything we do to improve lives through construction in our communities.

We are seeking a Superintendent – General Construction / Building who exemplifies our core values of

  • Grit – We persevere and learn through all challenges.
  • Safety – We are committed to protecting one another.
  • Integrity – We do not sacrifice our moral and ethical code.
  • Relationships – We work together to create greater outcomes.
  • Accountability – We take ownership

How you ll get to contribute:

As Superintendent, you will lead field operations on commercial and municipal building projects while coordinating both subcontracted trades and select self-performed scopes.

Typical projects may include:

  • Commercial buildings
  • Municipal facilities
  • Industrial support buildings
  • Renovations and additions
  • Negotiated and design-build projects

You will be responsible for safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution — ensuring work is completed on schedule and in alignment with plans and specifications.

You will:

  • Lead daily project field operations and site logistics
  • Coordinate subcontractors and enforce schedule sequencing
  • Oversee self-performed scopes such as concrete, utilities, or site work
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Maintain site safety and quality standards
  • Conduct daily planning meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Monitor schedule progress and proactively address delays
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers on cost and schedule alignment
  • Maintain daily reports and field documentation

This role requires strong field presence, organization, and accountability.

What you ll get to develop:

Building Systems Leadership
  • Structural and architectural coordination
  • MEP trade sequencing
  • Inspection readiness and quality control
  • Site logistics and phasing management
Field Culture & Team Development
  • Develop foremen and trade relationships
  • Strengthen communication between office and field
  • Reinforce safety and accountability standards
Operational Improvement
  • Improve daily planning discipline
  • Reduce rework through better coordination
  • Strengthen schedule reliability

About you:

You have:

  • 5+ years of commercial or building construction experience
  • Experience leading field operations on subcontractor-driven projects
  • Experience coordinating structural, architectural, and MEP trades
  • Experience overseeing self-performed scopes (concrete, utilities, or site work preferred)
  • Strong understanding of schedule sequencing and field production
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings

You are authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and can pass a background and driving record check.

You are:

  • A field leader first
  • Organized and proactive
  • Firm but fair — warm, but not soft
  • Comfortable holding subcontractors accountable
  • Safety-focused and detail-oriented
  • Calm under pressure and solution-oriented

Even better (but not required):

  • Experience in structural concrete
  • Experience with municipal or public facility projects
  • Experience on industrial or manufacturing sites
  • Experience coordinating structural concrete
  • Familiarity with HCSS daily reporting systems
  • Familiarity with GPS machine control

What’s in it for you:

Variety

You’ll work across commercial, municipal, and industrial building projects — not repetitive subdivision or tenant-finish-only work.

Balance
  • Target 45–50 hour work week
  • Early Fridays
  • 3 weeks PTO + 7.5 paid holidays, plus your birthday off after 1 year
  • 90-mile service radius — home nightly with rare exceptions
Equipment & Support
