A well-established Milwaukee based, family-owned Heavy Civil Contractor is seeking an accomplished Senior Concrete Project Manager to join and help lead a highly successful concrete division generating approximately $50 million in annual revenue
.
This is a confidential succession and growth opportunity created as the company prepares for the eventual retirement of a respected senior leader who has spent approximately 20 years helping build the division. The selected candidate will have an opportunity to work alongside this leader, contribute immediately, and potentially advance into a future departmental leadership position.
The OpportunityThis position is designed for an experienced concrete construction professional who can independently estimate, bid, and manage projects from preconstruction through closeout.
The Senior Concrete Project Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of public and private work while collaborating with experienced project managers across the company’s grading, underground utility, and other heavy civil divisions.
The successful candidate will join an autonomous, team-oriented environment where project managers are trusted to make decisions, manage client relationships, solve problems, and take ownership of financial performance. This is an opportunity to lead major projects today while building toward a larger operational leadership role in the future.
Project PortfolioThe concrete division performs approximately $50 million in annual work across a broad range of project sizes and markets, including:
Major DOT and public infrastructure projects valued at approximately $5 million to $25 million.
Large, complex projects that may range from $10 million to $30 million.
High-volume private concrete projects generally valued between $500,000 and $2 million.
Multiple smaller and midsized projects ranging from approximately $1 million to $3 million.
Combined concrete, grading, and infrastructure projects completed in partnership with other company divisions.
Estimate and competitively bid concrete and heavy civil projects.
Manage assigned projects from preconstruction through final completion.
Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
Lead project teams and coordinate superintendents, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment resources.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, safety, schedule, and profitability.
Partner with project managers from grading, underground utilities, and other divisions on multidisciplinary estimates and projects.
Review project plans, specifications, scopes, schedules, and contractual requirements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and public agencies.
Identify risks, resolve operational challenges, and keep projects progressing.
Monitor labor productivity, material costs, equipment utilization, change orders, and overall project performance.
Support the continued growth and development of the concrete division.
Mentor less-experienced team members and contribute to operational improvements.
Prepare for expanded departmental leadership responsibilities based on performance, interest, and organizational fit.
Significant project management experience in concrete or heavy civil construction.
Demonstrated ability to independently estimate, bid, plan, and manage concrete projects.
Experience overseeing major DOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects.
Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects or a portfolio of high-volume work.
Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, cost control, productivity, and profitability.
Experience leading project teams and coordinating field operations.
Knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, scheduling, equipment, and workforce requirements.
Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and field leaders across multiple construction disciplines.
