Position: Night Construction Inspector - Federal Sector

Procon is seeking an experienced Night Construction Inspector to support a roof replacement and exterior façade repair project at an occupied federal facility in Orlando, FL. This onsite position will provide construction inspection and quality assurance oversight during night-shift activities to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with contract documents, approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction industry experience, preferably involving construction inspection, quality assurance/quality control, or construction management.
  • Previous experience as a Construction Inspector, QA/QC Inspector, QA/QC Manager, or similar field-based construction professional.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, installation methods, and industry quality standards.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and other contract documents.
  • Experience inspecting multiple construction disciplines, including architectural, structural, MEP, and life-safety work.
  • Knowledge of construction safety requirements and OSHA standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify deficiencies, discrepancies, and non-conforming work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing field reports, inspection documentation, and construction records.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound field observations and recommendations.
  • Experience with roofing, exterior façade work, occupied facilities, and/or federal construction projects is preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work the night shift for the duration of the project, with occasional daytime or weekend work based on project needs.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide onsite construction inspection and quality assurance oversight during night-shift construction activities.
  • Inspect workmanship, materials, installation methods, and completed work for compliance with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor and document construction progress and verify work conforms to approved plans and established quality standards.
  • Conduct field inspections across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety disciplines.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and related project documentation to support field inspections and verify contractor compliance.
  • Identify deficiencies and non-conforming work and coordinate with contractors and the project team to support timely resolution.
  • Prepare detailed daily field reports, inspection records, non-conformance documentation, and photographic records.
  • Evaluate observed construction progress and completed work to support verification of contractor pay applications.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with project health, safety, and environmental requirements, including applicable OSHA standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, project representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch-list inspections, corrective work verification, testing and commissioning observations, and final inspections.
  • Verify completed work meets contract requirements prior to final acceptance and turnover.
  • Maintain accurate and organized construction records throughout the project.
  • Provide occasional daytime or weekend inspection coverage when required by project conditions or critical construction activities.
