To ensure a safe manufacturing environment, our Occupational Health and Safety Engineering team plays a crucial role in hazard prevention, conducting safety audits, providing training, and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

This role is a leadership position for Ford Land construction safety. This person will lead industrial and greenfield construction safety programs, supervise the Ford Land Safety Team, and works closely with Project Managers and global Regional Directors to implement and align the Construction Safety Process (per FAS
08-075) across projects. They serve as the go-to construction safety subject matter expert—interpreting Ford and OSHA requirements, conducting on-site contractor safety audits, sitting on standards and review committees (like the Technical Review Committee and National Joint Committee on Health and Safety), and owning key specifications like the 01100 Global Construction Safety Specification. A major part of the job involves data and reporting duties, including tracking incidents through GERT/OHSIM, ensuring contractor 8D reports are completed, and compiling/presenting weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety metrics for various leadership audiences.

The role also has significant coordination responsibilities, from running the NA Construction Safety Council and annual contractor summit to supporting UAW‑Ford negotiations and conferences. In addition to cross‑functional calibration with Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Safety teams. Finally, it requires specialized risk oversight for high-hazard construction activities such as demolition, roofing, steel erection, crane operations, hazardous material handling (ACM, silica, lead), and other elevated‑risk tasks, ensuring contractor safety plans and practices meet rigorous standards before and during execution.

What

you'll do...
  • Lead N.A. Ford Land Industrial and greenfield construction safety.
  • Collaborate with Ford Land Global Director on implementation of Construction Safety Process in N.A. and Global Regions as requested.
  • Coach and supervise FL Safety Team (2 Core, 2 FSR’s) to provide Contractor oversight and the implementation of Construction Safety Process as defined in FAS
    08-075 and attachments.
  • Provide support to global Ford Land Regional directors as needed and requested.
  • Provide coaching, support, and alignment with Project Managers to implement the Construction Safety Process.
  • Maintain project assignment list and division of responsibilities for core FL Safety Team. Continuously update and prioritize.
  • Conduct on-site safety process confirmation checks of Contractors for adherence to Ford Construction Safety Process and government requirements.
  • Represent Safety (Ford Land Industrial), with Ford Corporate Safety, Manufacturing Engineering, National Joint Committee on Health and Safety, and others as needed.
  • Ford Land lead for 01100 Global Construction Safety Specification.
  • Lead NA Construction Safety Council meeting agenda, when required.
  • Assist in coordination of annual construction contractor summit.
  • Provide interpretation of Ford and OSHA requirements to field personnel as needed.
  • Construction safety subject matter expert providing consultation to various Company organizations at the corporate, regional and plant levels.
  • SharePoint Owner for CSC and Global Construction Metrics web sites.
  • Tabulate and present Global and North American construction safety statistics.
    • Weekly Wednesday Global OHS staff meeting incident summaries as needed.
    • Monthly Corporate Safety Global Construction Metrics
    • Monthly Ford Land Global Metrics, Summary Excel and PPT presentations
    • Quarterly Ford Land Summary PPT presentation at Global OHS staff meeting.
  • Complete Global Event Reporting Tool (GERT/OHSIM) for incidents occurring on Ford Land projects.
  • Ensure completion of contractor 8D reports for significant incidents occurring on Ford Land projects.
  • Share Best Practices and Safety Alerts between Ford Land projects as applicable.
  • Track and follow-up on applicable Global ICAs for FL.
  • Represent Ford Land as Technical Review Committee (TRC) Member on Ford safety standards.
