Heavy Equipment Operator, Construction Labor & Trades
RPM Utilities, LLC is seeking an experienced Loader Operator to join our construction team. The Loader Operator will be responsible for safely operating front-end loaders and other heavy equipment in support of underground utility construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have previous heavy equipment experience, understand jobsite safety requirements, and be comfortable working around excavation, utility crews, trucks, and other equipment in an active construction environment.
Responsibilities- Safely operate front-end loaders and other assigned heavy equipment.
- Load and move dirt, rock, aggregate, pipe, construction materials, and other jobsite materials.
- Load dump trucks and assist with material placement and stockpiling.
- Support underground utility crews with excavation, backfill, grading, and material movement.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of equipment.
- Identify and report equipment damage, mechanical problems, or safety concerns immediately.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Maintain awareness of underground utilities, workers, equipment, and changing jobsite conditions.
- Follow hand signals and directions from foremen, spotters, and supervisors.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist the crew with general construction duties when equipment operation is not required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience operating a front-end loader or similar heavy equipment required.
- Underground utility, civil construction, excavation, or sitework experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to safely load trucks and work in close proximity to employees and other equipment.
- Knowledge of basic equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions, hand signals, and jobsite safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
- Ability to work extended hours and overtime as project schedules require.
- Must be dependable and able to report to work on time.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the workday.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, mud, and other construction-site conditions.
- Ability to safely work around excavation areas, moving equipment, and active construction operations.
