Job Summary

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented student to join University Advancement’s Institutional Fundraising team as a Content Editor & Content Creator. In this role, you will blend editorial strategy with digital storytelling—helping craft clear, compelling content that shows how philanthropy impacts the University of Utah.

You will audit, write, and refine marketing copy for clarity, brand voice, and accessibility, while actively producing engaging short-form videos and graphic assets for our digital channels. This is a long-term, year-round position perfect for someone who excels at both polished editing and creative content production, looking to build a versatile professional portfolio.

Responsibilities Copywriting & Editing:
  • Draft, review, and edit copy across social media, web pages, emails, and print collateral to ensure accuracy, proper grammar, brand consistency, and accessible formatting.
UX & Content Optimization:
  • Review digital touchpoints and campaign materials to simplify complex language into audience-friendly content that improves clarity and user engagement.
Asset & Content Audits:
  • Help maintain, organize, and audit the department’s asset library (photos, video clips, and templates) to ensure content remains current, structured, and easy to reuse.
Multimedia Production:
  • Video Production:
Capture, edit, and publish high-quality short-form video content (Reels, Tik Toks, event recaps) using Cap Cut or Adobe Premiere.
  • Visual Design:
Design eye-catching graphics for social media and digital platforms using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite in accordance with university brand guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah student.

Preferences
  • Current University of Utah student (majoring in Film, Communication, Marketing, English, Journalism, Design, or a related field preferred).
  • Strong copyediting, proofreading, and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in short-form video editing (Cap Cut, Adobe Premiere) and graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Solid understanding of social media platforms, content strategy, and digital accessibility principles.
  • Ability to work independently, manage timelines across multiple projects, and take initiative.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend event coverage.
Special Instructions Summary

Please upload a link to your digital portfolio or attach 2-3 work samples under “Applicant Document – Other.” Show us your style! We’d love to see short-form video links, graphic design layouts, photography, or marketing projects that highlight your creative skills.

Please upload a cover letter along with your resume. In your cover letter, please share why you are interested in this position and how your creative skills or campus involvement make you a great fit for our team.
