P osition Overview:
The sound supervisor is responsible for the load - in and strike of all Theatre Works productions, supervising sound overhire , planning the proper installation of submitted designs, managing inventory, and assisting the designer with any notes during the tech and preview process . The sound supervisor is also responsible for the design and implementation of sound for the company’s various special events and fundraisers.

Theatre Works produces a six-show mainstage season at three venues; the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (two or three productions), the Fox Theatre in Redwood City (one production) and the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto (three productions). Theatre Works also produces an annual New Works Festival at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load-in and strike of all mainstage productions , special events , and fundraisers
  • Supervis e sound overhire during load-in s and strike s
  • Meet with sound designer and plan proper installation of submitted designs
  • Manage sound inventory in a neat and orderly manner
  • Make sound equipment purchase recommendations that fall within the scope of project(s) as well as budget
  • Assist designer with notes during tech and preview process
  • Willingness and flexibility to work occasion al evenings, weekends/holidays when production schedule requires it
  • Consistently embody the mission and values of Theatre Works in a professional, thoughtful, and collaborative manner. Be a team player with Theatre Works internal company members, production personnel, performers and all external venue staff.
  • Attend run-through rehearsals, dress rehearsals, tech staff meetings, production meetings, and a ll s taff meetings as required .
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Production .
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Strong organizational skills, safe working practices, and comprehensive knowledge of audio reinforcement and equipment
  • Experience with Yamaha digital mixing consoles ; knowledge of PM5D specifically preferable.
  • Knowledge of Dante networking and QLab playback software
  • Basic overhead rigging knowledge
  • Attention to detail and ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot complex systems .
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift 65lbs and be comfortable with manual labor , including on ladders and in catwalks .
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Experience d riving 24’ box truck s a plus
  • Passion for the arts, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Must provide documents that establish identity as well as employment authorization in the USA.

Compensation Range:
Hourly rate, range is $25-$29/hr.

SALARY

$25.00 – $29.00 per hour
