Location: Northern

WAND News is looking for a high-performing journalist to join our trendy morning news team. This person will anchor morning news on a variety of platforms, transition between having a morning vibe and being trustworthy and serious when the situation calls for it, and be willing to get off the desk to find stories across Central Illinois.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Anchor newscasts on TV and digital platforms
  • Compellingly deliver news stories, but also have morning vibes
  • Interact with other team members on-air
  • Bring unique story ideas to editorial meetings
  • Curate compelling stories for air
  • Work with producers to build newscasts and fill in when necessary
  • Use social media to tell stories, break news, and connect with the community
  • Build sources and contacts in the community
  • Work with reporters, photographers, and editors to tell stories, share ideas, and enhance teamwork

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Do you have 1 to 2 years of anchoring experience?
  • Do you have 2 to 3 years of newsroom experience?

This is not an entry-level position.

Qualification
  • 1 to 2 years prior anchoring experience or 2 to 3 years prior reporting experience.
  • Energy, charisma, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a dynamic personality
  • Superior news judgment
  • Ability to manage high stress situations
  • Self-starter with strong story-telling skills
  • Education level Bachelor's Degree
