We are looking for a motion designer with heavy Rive experience.
We'd prefer your background be working with engineering teams on in-product motion design for games and features, rather than brand or marketing focused motion design for ads or commercials if possible.
Contract Motion Designer
We are looking for a contract Motion Designer to build the rip animation experience for our
new repacks product.
This is a highly visible part of the product experience: turning each card pull into something dynamic, exciting, and memorable.
More specifically, looking for a senior designer with interactive or game-adjacent experience.
Specifically, need someone who has a background in product-based Rive animations, less brand or marketing project experience.
This person having a background in 3D animations would be a plus, but our main tool of choice is Rive and 2D animations for now.
This person would develop the Rive animations based on direction from the product manager, get confirmation on designs, and then work with our front-end engineers on timing, state triggers, and easing curves.
They should be used to tight iteration loops and working directly with developers to tweak and implement the Rive files to meet the in-app code as a seamless experience to the user.
What You’ll Do- Design and build the end-to-end rip animation experience, including motion, haptics, and visual effects
- Create dynamic animation systems that respond to different card-pull outcomes
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to bring the experience to life in-product
- Deliver durable, production-ready Rive files that our EPD team can maintain and evolve over time
- Strong motion design and visual storytelling instincts, with a portfolio of polished product or interactive work
- Experience creating engaging, high-impact animations for consumer products
- Proficiency with Rive; experience designing for dynamic, state-based interactions is a plus
- Comfort collaborating closely with designers and engineers in a fast-moving environment
We are building a digital card pack opening “tear” and underlying card reveal experience as a part of one of our new products. We are currently leveraging Rive. We show the pack, have a “tear” or rip mechanic, and then slowly reveal the card using a number of “pack opening” animations like the pack unfolding and falling away, a “cover” card appearing and flipping through different categories of cards (e.g. basketball, football, baseball), and then landing on the correct category of that assigned card to the user.
After that, color beams, outlines, and explosion animations are used to unveil the card image, price, and details. There is data binding being used to associate the category of the card, rarity of the card to colors shown, and the card details itself.
We are looking for this person to start immediately and continue through September things work well, could extend for longer to other interactive sports games and market types being developed.
