Position Summary:

The communications and design coordinator will develop clear and inviting communications and ensure that channels of communication are well-organized and kept up to date. This position also involves designing materials for digital and physical spaces that match the Hope Community Church aesthetic.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Design:

Curate the user experience for digital and physical spaces utilizing design principles and best practices for communication.
Design and collate all communication for the weekly church newsletter.
- Create graphics using Canva, write blurbs for events that communicate clearly, schedule newsletter articles to be written, and design the arrangement of the newsletter in Mail Chimp for easy readability.
Design, edit and print the weekly bulletin.
Create slides for Sunday morning services using Pro Presenter for services and Canva for graphic design.
- Oversee announcements and ensure that staff adheres to best practices for communication of details and events.
Create all graphics for printed and digital mediums in Canva for Hope Community Church using logos and brand design.
Create templates for documents for staff to use for classes and events.

Social Media and Digital Communication:

Create a social media schedule that aligns with Hope Community Church’s vision and values.
- Post inviting communication on social media platforms utilizing the agreed upon schedule.
- Streamline the use of all social media platforms:
  Instagram and Facebook.
- Design materials for social media platforms and ensure that staff provides needed material for social media posts.
Write and send emails to members with clear written communication.

Website and Database Management:

Oversee the website updates and the accuracy of the digital communication.
- Create a schedule for making weekly website updates and monthly website updates.
- Develop a system for staff to communicate changes needed to digital communication platforms.
- Establish and ensure compliance with any emergency website updates.
Establish best practices for maintaining database and organizational systems for communication lists.
- Manage the membership database and direct staff in best practices for utilizing the Planning Center database.

COLLABORATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in staff development and formation.
Collaborate with ministry staff for special services and holiday services including but not limited to:
Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Family Worship, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.
Collaborate with staff and lay teams to plan events and programming.

TIME ALLOCATION

15-20 hours/week.

Required time onsite: 10 hours in person work at the church building. Tuesday is a required day and the remaining in person hours can be done on Thursday or Friday.
The remaining working hours may be done at flexible times and preparation work that doesn’t require presence at the church building may be done in a flexible location.
These hours are averaged on a monthly basis.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

2-3 years experience in design and communication and/or member management required.
Proficiency with Google Drive, Database software, graphic design software, Mail Chimp, and Planning Center software.
Portfolio of communication work or design work highly desired.
Creative thinking ability and ability to problem solve and seek solutions when one is not readily available.
Willingness and desire to work on a collaborative team.
Gracious posture towards people and desire to create a hospitable and welcoming environment for our church family.
