Blackshear First United Methodist Church is seeking a talented and dedicated individual (or individuals) to lead and support our music ministry. We are open to hiring one person to serve as both Choir Director and Church Musician or two individuals to fill these roles separately.

We are a growing and welcoming congregation with a passion for people and the Gospel, and we are excited to find someone who will help us continue to develop a meaningful and vibrant music ministry for all ages.

Lead and direct our adult choir, including regular rehearsals and Sunday morning worship.

Select appropriate choral music in collaboration with the pastor (and musicians if only applying for the Director position).

Encourage choir participation and help develop the musical gifts of choir members.

Develop and leada children's choir, helping to encourage young musicians and prepare them to participate in worship.

Coordinate music for special worship services, including Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter.

Provide piano and/or organ accompaniment for our 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Accompany congregational hymns, choir anthems, and other special music.

Provide appropriate preludes, offertories, and postludes.

Participate in choir rehearsals and special services as agreed upon.

Assist with the children's choir by providing musical accompaniment in rehearsals and services

We are seeking candidates who possess strong musical abilities, communicate well, and enjoy working collaboratively with others. Candidates should be comfortable working with both adults and children and have a desire to nurture musical gifts across generations.

Previous church music experience and familiarity with United Methodist worship traditions are preferred.

Candidates do not need to be qualified for both positions to apply.We welcome applications from individuals interested in serving exclusively as Choir Director or Church Musician.

Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and the responsibilities of the position. We are open to discussing arrangements that work well for both the church and the right candidate or candidates.
