Technical Director

The Technical Director is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of productions, including lighting, sound, set design, and special effects. They will work closely with the director, designers, and production team to bring the creative vision of the production to life.

Qualifications:

You must be a high school graduate

Background in theater, film, or television production

Degree in theatrical field or equivalent experience

Experience as a technical director or similar role

Knowledge of lighting, sound, set design, and special effects

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Strong problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the director and designers to determine technical requirements and specifications for the production

Supervise the setup and operation of lighting, sound, and special effects equipment

Ensure that all technical elements of the production are executed safely and to the highest standards

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise

Communicate with other members of the production team to coordinate technical elements and ensure smooth performances

Maintain and manage the technical equipment and resources of the organization

During a typical season we produce four youth musical, one young adult musical, one all ages musical, one adults only musical/cabaret and a performing arts day camp with five overlapping sessions resulting in five youth musical across nine weeks in the summer. All of these productions need Directors, Choreographers, Vocal Directors, Tech Directors, Costume Designers, Stage Managers, front of house positions and more.
