The Town of Richmond is accepting applications for a Part-Time Transfer Station Attendant. This position is responsible for assisting residents, monitoring operations, processing customer transactions, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and efficient Transfer Station.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist residents with the proper disposal of municipal solid waste, recyclables, and other accepted materials.
- Verify resident stickers and enforce Transfer Station rules and regulations.
- Process customer transactions, including collecting fees, operating the point-of-sale system, handling cash and credit card payments, issuing receipts, and balancing receipts in accordance with Town financial procedures.
- Direct traffic and assist with the safe flow of vehicles throughout the facility.
- Monitor recycling areas to ensure materials are properly sorted.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility, including litter removal and general housekeeping.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or violations to the Transfer Station Supervisor.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to residents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderate physical labor.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This is a part-time weekend position for up to 16 hours.
Compensation$18 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
