Some of the most expensive blocks in the country are full of buildings the national carriers skipped. On one Upper West Side block you will pass prewar walk-ups, brownstones, townhouses, and small apartment and mixed-use buildings that never got built into. Connect NYC is operated by Wave2

Wave, New York City's first wireless ISP, in business since 1999, and it grows one building at a time. That growth starts on the sidewalk, with somebody telling the block there is a second option. This job is covering assigned blocks on foot, in weather, starting short conversations with people who were not expecting one. Most of them will say no.

You are not closing a sale. You are making sure the block heard it.

• Cover assigned blocks and buildings on foot between W 57th and W 110th Street, Central Park West to the Hudson.
• Start short conversations at doors, on stoops, and on the sidewalk with people who were not expecting one.
• Explain the residential plans in plain terms: $89, $119, and $149 a month for 150/50, 300/100, and 600/200 Mbps. Taxes included, no contract, no data cap, and the price stays fixed while service is active on that plan.
• Answer basic questions about what fixed wireless is and how the service reaches a building.
• Talk to the storefronts and small offices on mixed-use blocks, where the business plans run $349 and $549 a month and support comes by phone.
• Point interested residents toward a building check. One household asking is enough to start one.
• Learn the territory and go back to blocks you have already walked: which blocks are live, which buildings keep coming up, and where a second option would matter most.

• Walk, climb stairs, and stand for most of a shift, in most weather.
• Approach a stranger, say something worth hearing in under a minute, and step back when the answer is no.
• Explain prices and internet service plainly to people who are not technical.
• Work alone for hours at a steady pace. Assigned blocks get covered, not sampled.
• Sound the same at 7 p.m. on a cold Thursday as you did at the start of the shift.
• Use a smartphone to look things up in the field.

• The blocks you were given get covered end to end, not the easy half of them.
• An hour after talking to you, a resident can still say what Connect NYC costs and what to do next. That is the bar, not a signature.
• The interest you turn up becomes buildings that get checked, and some of those end up with a radio on the roof you can see from the sidewalk.
• You know the territory cold: which blocks are live, which buildings keep asking, and where the demand actually sits.

Part-time or full-time, Monday through Saturday. Most hours fall in the late afternoon and early evening, with some weekend daytime shifts. Schedules are set in advance.
