Laurel Ridge Community College (Laurel Ridge) seeks applicants for a full-time, 9-month faculty position beginning in January 2027 to provide leadership and instruction for the Dental Hygiene program. Reporting to the Local Site Coordinator/Program Lead, the successful candidate will serve as the Clinical Coordinator, working with constituents from across the college and community to help shape the direction and future of the program.

As a member of the faculty, the candidate will use multiple methods of instruction, assessment results and appropriate instructional technologies to engage students in learning and self-development activities geared toward student success, retention, and completion.

The candidate will teach in the dental hygiene didactic, clinic and lab courses, which may be in a variety of formats and lengths and will facilitate student learning and development activities outside the classroom (e.g., Clinical experiences, clubs, experiences for students in the community, etc.). The candidate will work to strengthen and expand relationships and partnerships with K-12, higher education, industry, and community organizations in support of the college mission, vision, and values.

We are looking for a faculty member with demonstrated commitment to excellence in service, innovation, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties. May be assigned to teach at all Laurel Ridge locations as well as evening and/or weekend classes.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Educational requirements from a Commission on Dental Accreditation ( CODA ) accredited institution:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene

OR

• A Bachelor’s degree in any field AND an Associate’s degree in dental hygiene with two or more years experience
• Currently holds, or eligible for a Virginia dental hygiene license and certification in the delivery of local anesthesia
• Current or achieved by the hire date: CPR certification in basic life support for the healthcare provider
• Understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Ability to hold membership in the American Dental Hygiene Association

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation ( CODA ) accredited institution
• Experience helping students develop critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students in the clinical dental hygiene setting.
• Experience creating community connections and fostering experiential learning opportunities.
• Experience in holding a clinical coordinator’s position in an educational setting
• Knowledge in maintaining and repairing dental equipment
