A day in the life of a Designer – Collaborations and Speed at The North Face looks a little like this.
- You’ll work with and support the team on elevating design expression and creating best-in-industry collaboration product across apparel, equipment and footwear.
- You’ll work on quick turn opportunities that directly meet business needs.
- You bring a passion for contemporary culture and work in both performance and lifestyle expressions.
- You will work with and support the design team with seasonal research, concepts, product design, tech-packing and BOM creation. You’re a collaborative member of the design team and work with cross functional partners.
- You design and create a broader range of products in collaboration with The North Face Collaboration team and partners. You present design work at project milestones, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
- You have a solid understanding for brand aesthetic, DNA, materials and technologies, fit and silhouette, cost engineering, in support of consumer and business needs.
- You have a passion for details, learning and contribute to team reviews, workshops, and milestones.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 4+ years of experience and professional achievements within the design and product creation field.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
- 4+ years of experience in apparel (outerwear and sportswear), equipment or footwear design
- Passion for both performance and lifestyle archetypes
- Strong product acumen with working knowledge of apparel product development processes, including design, development, sourcing and manufacturing
- Proficient working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office.
- Good level sketching, tech-pack creation skills and attention to detail.
- Experience doing research, prototyping and concepting across lifestyle and performance products.
- Cross functional and team collaboration and communication.
- Excellent collaboration skills and an ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlines
- Proactive approach to identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best solutions with a values driven commitment to do what is right
- High degree of agility and adaptability
- Growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning new tools and problem-solving
There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.
- Experience using AI rendering tools.
- International work experience and market understanding.
- Basic pattern and construction capabilities.
