Engineering simulation is one of the last major categories of software that AI hasn't rebuilt. The tools used to design aircraft, ships, reservoirs, and medical devices still run on numerical methods that are decades old, and an engineer can wait a full day for a single answer.
UniversalAGI is building foundation models that learn physics directly from data, and they are already running in early deployments on real computational fluid dynamics and reservoir engineering problems for some of the largest industrial and defense organizations in the world.
We are a team of 25 researchers and engineers in San Francisco backed by Elad Gil (#1 Solo VC), Eric Schmidt (former Google CEO), Prith Banerjee (ANSYS CTO), Ion Stoica (Databricks Founder), Jared Kushner (former Senior Advisor to the President), David Patterson (Turing Award Winner), and Luis Videgaray (former Foreign and Finance Minister of Mexico).
About the RoleAs a founding Brand & Product Designer, you'll define how UniversalAGI looks, feels, and shows up everywhere it matters: in front of customers, inside our product, and in the visual story we tell. This is a builder's seat. You'll turn a same-day deck into something that lands, then turn around and shape how our product feels in someone's hands. You'll sit with the founding team, turning fast-moving and technical ideas into work that's clear, sharp, and genuinely exciting.
WhatYou'll Do
- Own the design of every presentation and deck we put in front of people, anchored on customer-facing materials and extending to investor conversations, marketing, and other moments that matter.
- Turn fast-moving and technical content into something clear, credible, and visually sharp.
- Build and maintain a flexible s system so decks stay consistent, on brand, and fast to produce as new needs come up.
- Contribute to product design on live product surfaces, partnering closely with our technical team, the founding team, and GTM, especially where product work and customer-facing materials overlap.
- Execute brand and marketing collateral (social, one-pagers, internal communications, and more) using and extending our existing design system.
- Help define and evolve our visual identity and brand direction as the company scales, not just execute against existing guidelines, but help set them.
- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, or willing to relocate; this is an in-person, onsite role.
- Professional design experience spanning presentation/deck design, product design, and brand or visual identity work.
- A portfolio that leads with excellent presentation and deck design: work that had to persuade someone.
- Demonstrated brand or identity design experience: you've shaped or evolved a brand system, not just applied one.
- Working product design skills and able to help shape a 0-to-1 and 1-to-n product, including how we make dense, technical output feel clear and usable.
- A high craft bar: meticulous attention to typography, layout, and visual polish under real deadlines.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and speed; you'll often be the only designer in the room.
- Experience designing for an AI, deep tech, or highly technical audience.
- Experience at a high-growth startup or a design-forward consumer/enterprise tech company.
- Motion, illustration, or video skills that add polish to decks and product storytelling.
- Experience building or maintaining a company-wide design system from scratch.
- Technical Respect: Ability to earn respect through hands-on technical contribution
- Intensity: Thrives in our unusually intense culture - willing to grind when needed
- Customer Obsession: Passionate about solving real customer problems, not just cool tech
- Deep Work: Values long, uninterrupted periods of focused work over meetings
- High Availability: Ready to be deeply involved whenever critical issues arise
- Communication: Can translate complex technical concepts to customers and team
- Growth Mindset: Embraces the compounding returns of intelligence and continuous learning
- Startup Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, rapid…
