Project Overview
Dacotah Studio is seeking an experienced freelance landscape designer to develop concept and construction-level landscape plans for a hillside residential property in Pasadena, CA. The site involves grade changes, slope stabilization considerations, and outdoor living areas integrated with the home's architecture.
Scope of Work- Site analysis: topography, drainage, existing vegetation, access, and grading constraints
- Concept design: schematic layout, planting concepts, hardscape zones, materials/mood direction
- Client presentation materials (plans, sections, renderings as needed)
- Construction documents: grading and drainage coordination, hardscape layout/dimensioning, planting plans, irrigation plan, lighting plan, and construction details
- Proven experience with hillside/sloped-lot residential landscape design in Southern California
- Working knowledge of local grading, drainage, and retaining wall requirements; familiarity with Pasadena/LA County permitting
- Proficiency in CAD and/or relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketch Up)
- Ability to produce construction-ready documentation, not just concept renderings
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with the design-build team
- Portfolio of comparable hillside or terraced residential projects required
