Job Description & How to Apply Below

This is more than a traditional Project Manager position; it’s an opportunity to help lead and shape the future of our Residential work. We’re seeking an experienced architect and proven leader who is passionate about residential design, enjoys building strong client relationships, and thrives on leading people as much as leading projects. In this role, you’ll oversee a diverse portfolio of multifamily, senior living, affordable housing, mixed-use, and residential projects while mentoring project teams and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

As you demonstrate leadership, sound judgment, technical expertise, and a commitment to our culture, you’ll have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and play a significant role in the continued growth and long-term leadership of our Residential Team.

Who We Are:

Founded in 1928, Flewelling & Moody Architects has spent nearly a century designing environments that enrich education and strengthen communities throughout California. Our portfolio includes K-12 schools, higher education campuses, civic facilities, housing, and community-focused projects that positively impact generations of students and families. While our firm has evolved throughout our history, our guiding philosophy has remained the same:

What We Do:

Purposeful Design, Service with Integrity, Built on Legacy.

Today, Flewelling & Moody provides a full range of architectural, planning, and engineering services from our Pasadena and Lancaster offices. We believe exceptional architecture begins with exceptional people. Our greatest strength has always been our people. We believe in fostering an environment where collaboration, mentorship, professional development, and mutual respect are part of everyday practice. The long careers of many of our team members are a testament to the culture we’ve built—one where meaningful work, lasting relationships, and personal growth go hand in hand.

Why Join Flewelling and Moody?

At Flewelling & Moody, you’re not just accepting a job—you’re joining a team that is committed to your long-term success. As a 100% employee-owned firm with nearly a century of design excellence, we invest in our people through mentorship, lifelong learning, exceptional benefits, and meaningful opportunities to grow. It’s why many of our employees have built careers spanning 20, 30, and even 40+ years, and why we’re looking for individuals who are excited to make a lasting impact on our firm, our clients, and the communities we serve.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead multifamily, senior living, affordable housing, mixed-use, and residential projects through all phases of design, permitting, construction administration, and project closeout.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building long-term relationships through exceptional communication and service.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Project Architects, Job Captains, Designers, and Consultants throughout every phase of the project.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable project team environment.
  • Take ownership of project quality by ensuring construction documents are complete, coordinated, technically sound, and aligned with the firm’s standards of excellence.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary consultant coordination, including structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, landscape, and specialty consultants.
  • Guide technical decision-making while maintaining design intent, constructability, code compliance, and project goals.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, consultant deliverables, RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and change orders.
