Senior Industrial Product Designer

Join a 3D printing organisation as Senior Industrial Product Designer to define the visual identity, user experience, and overall form factor of our next-generation metal additive manufacturing systems.

This designer will translate engineering, usability, and brand requirements into world-class industrial design that differentiates our printers in both aesthetics and customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, creative thinker with a deep understanding of product form development, user-centered design, and the integration of industrial design with complex electro-mechanical systems. This individual will play a central role in shaping the look, feel, ergonomics, and end-to-end customer interaction with our machines.

• Define the external form language, geometry, and visual identity of Precision’s metal AM systems.
• Create concepts, sketches, renderings, and refined industrial design models that balance aesthetics, usability, and manufacturability.
• Develop enclosure concepts, operator interfaces, access points, material flow surfaces, and serviceability features.

• Lead user-centered design research to understand operator workflows, pain points, and environmental constraints.
• Design intuitive interactions, touchpoints, visibility lines, safety considerations, and ergonomics for machine operation and maintenance.
• Collaborate with customers and field teams to incorporate real-world usage insights into the design.

• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering to integrate industrial design seamlessly with internal architectures.
• Partner with marketing to align product aesthetics with brand identity and customer expectations.
• Support design reviews, feasibility discussions, and DFM/DFS (design for serviceability) considerations.

• Create physical mockups, models, and prototypes to evaluate design intent and usability.
• Participate in build reviews and pilot machine assembly to validate form factor and user interaction requirements.
• Work with suppliers to evaluate materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods for production enclosures.

• Generate detailed design documentation, color/material/finish (CMF) specifications, and presentation materials.
• Maintain industrial design files, renderings, and final design standards for production release.
• Present concepts and final designs to leadership, engineering, and external stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing complex capital equipment, industrial machinery, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality industrial design work with emphasis on usability, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
• Proficiency in CAD and industrial design tools (Solid Works, Creo, Rhino, Key Shot, Adobe CC, etc.).
• Deep understanding of human factors, ergonomics, and user-centered design methodologies.
• Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work hands-on with physical prototypes and collaborate in a fast-paced hardware environment.
