Aboutthe Role
Equip is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible MD or DO in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics to join our rapidly growing clinical care team. In this role, you will provide high-quality virtual medical care to patients ages 6–99 with eating disorders across a 100% virtual Telehealth platform.
Staff Physicians are essential members of Equip's multidisciplinary virtual treatment team, working closely alongside therapists, dietitians, and recovery/caregiver coaches to support patients and their families through every stage of recovery. This position focuses purely on direct patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration without administrative or clinical supervision responsibilities for APPs.
ResponsibilitiesDeliver comprehensive medical assessments and evidence-based treatment for co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions associated with eating disorders, supporting families throughout the recovery process.
Monitor vital signs, laboratory data, and clinical indicators to ensure medical stability in an outpatient virtual setting. Work closely with medical assistants and nurses to order labs, prescribe medications, obtain medical records, and facilitate external care collaboration.
Partner actively within a 5-person treatment team (therapist, dietitian, physician, peer mentor, and family mentor) to establish medical guidelines and individualized care plans.
Utilize EMR messaging and internal communication channels to respond to patient/family inquiries and communicate efficiently with the broader care team.
Complete session notes, medical assessments, and documentation within Equip's electronic medical record in a timely manner (within 24 hours) in compliance with company policies and best practices.
Communicate and collaborate with patients’ outside primary care providers, specialists, or inpatient/residential facilities as needed.
Engage actively in weekly treatment team meetings, clinical case reviews, department meetings, and continuing education initiatives.
Education & Credentials
Graduate of an accredited medical school holding an MD or DO degree.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatric
3+ years of clinical practice experience treating pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations in outpatient or virtual care environments. Experience in eating disorder medical management and evidence-based stabilization protocols is strongly preferred but not required
Must meet AT LEAST ONE of the following requirements:
- Primary State Licensure:
Active, unrestricted MD or DO license in one or more of the following physician-only states: AL, MS, NV, TN, or SC. - Preferred Additional Licenses (Plus):
- State Licensure:
Active licensure in states with certificate or practice restrictions, including: GA, IN, AK, CO, KY, MO, OH, or VA.
