The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, University of Utah has an opening for a General Pediatrician. Clinical activities include direct patient care in the Pediatric Emergency Department and Rapid Treatment Unit at Primary Children’s Hospital Salt Lake Campus (Salt Lake City, UT) and the Pediatric Emergency Department and Observation Unit at Primary Children’s Hospital Larry H.
and Gail Miller Family Campus (Lehi, UT). Patient care encompasses the full spectrum of illnesses and injuries in children and adolescents from birth through age 18, including patients with chronic and medically complex conditions. The pediatrician will work collaboratively with surgical and medical consultants in developing optimal plans of care and disposition plans. Consultative assistance to clinics and outside emergency departments is expected.
There are expectations for academic work outside of clinical care that may include investigation, education, advocacy, and administrative roles
Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics. Selected candidates will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Selected candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to medical education and actively participate in the training of Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows, residents, and medical students during clinical care. Faculty are expected to serve as educators, mentors, career advisors, and senior clinical investigators for students, residents, fellows, and other trainees, as appropriate. Faculty must also be able to provide clinical coverage across the full scope of the Division’s operations, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Clinical schedules are assigned based on departmental and patient care needs and require availability to work throughout a 7-day-per-week, 365-day-per-year clinical practice.
