The Universityof New Mexico School of Neurosurgery Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting aboard certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track,
general neurosurgeon with a focused experience in treating brain trauma and spine disorders
; comfort managing basic pediatric conditions is welcome but not required. Enthusiastic interest in leading and growing such as neurosurgical practice is needed. Successful candidates will join 12 established neurosurgeons and neurocritical care doctors practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents at the University of New Mexico.

The Universityof New Mexico is the only tertiary referral neurosurgical center and Level 1trauma center in the state of 2.3 million people. There is significant need and opportunity to expand our general neurosurgical practice, especially that ofbrain and spinal trauma and degenerative spine disorders. Overall, the department has a comprehensive practice encompassing the full range of neurological disorders in both adult and pediatric patients.

This practice is supported by an experienced group of 24 advanced practice providers, has an expanding ACGME-approved residency, and is predominantly based in a newly opened and equipped Critical Care Tower.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) or its international equivalent or completion, by start date, of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited residency in neurological surgery

  • Academic neurosurgery practice; with a minimum of one year as fellow or attending surgeon, working with residents and students
