Pediatric Residency Program Director

K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Pediatric Residency Program Director to lead an academic and clinical program at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. This full‑time, benefits‑eligible position is split 50% academic/administrative and 50% clinical, with duties shared between program leadership and specialty practice. The Program Director reports directly to the Chair of Pediatrics.

The ideal candidate will be board‑certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, bring strong education and curriculum development expertise, and possess excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with peers and other departments.

The Pediatric Residency Program currently enrolls 10 residents per year and is affiliated with Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. In addition, the Department sponsors a Child Neurology Residency and Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship. The successful candidate will collaborate with the respective Program Directors to ensure coordination of high‑quality GME in the Department.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and supporting residents.
  • Evaluating resident progress.
  • Providing career counseling and guidance on career options in pediatrics.
  • Ensuring compliance with ACGME guidelines and the Residency Review Committee.
  • Developing curriculum.
  • Coordinating and presenting lectures.
  • Participating in the annual selection of residency applicants.
Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree and board certification in pediatrics.
  • Eligibility to obtain medical licensure in New Jersey.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a core faculty member in an ACGME‑accredited pediatric residency program.
  • Ongoing involvement in peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Leadership experience.

This posted rate is a reasonable good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of the market‑competitive total rewards package. The starting base salary is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer.

The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may differ based on various non‑discriminatory factors, including but not limited to specialization, labor market data, experience, leadership, education and certifications, productivity, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget and grant funding.
