Laboratory-based Investigator, Faculty Search
The Department of Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is inviting applications for an academic, wet laboratory, investigator position focused on basic and translational approaches to cancer. An ideal candidate would be at the Instructorrank and have a successful past and planned future research program focused on: biology of red blood celldevelopment controlled by kinase signaling, mechanisms of anemia in the setting of chronic disease andmyelodysplastic syndromes, and pharmacologic targeting erythrocytosis in the setting ofmyeloproliferative neoplasms.
The candidate must have an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree and a proven track record of outstanding laboratory research in cancer. The successful candidate is expected to develop and lead an independent laboratory and take an active role in the Department’s multidisciplinaryactivities, where multiple opportunities exist for collaboration with basic, translational, and clinical researchers.
The position is based in both the Department of Medical Oncology at DFCI and the Department of Medicine at the BWH and includes collaboration with other institutions affiliated with the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and the Harvard Medical School.
The investigator is expected to participate in Harvard University courses/workshops for students and fellows taught in the School of Medicine and supervise, teach and mentor postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
The academic appointment will be at the Instructor level at Harvard Medical School and determined bythe applicant's credentials. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions.
