Job Summary:

The Gynecologist will provide comprehensive gynecologic care with a primary focus on operative gynecology in the Operating Room (OR) and procedural care within the Rural Health Clinic (RHC). This role is gynecology-only and does not include routine obstetric responsibilities, labor and delivery coverage, or prenatal care unless otherwise specified.

The ideal candidate is a skilled gynecologic surgeon and clinician with expertise in managing complex benign gynecologic conditions through surgical and office-based procedures.

Gynecologist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operative (OR) Responsibilities
    • Perform gynecologic surgical procedures including, but not limited to:
    • Hysterectomy (abdominal, vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic as applicable)
    • Laparoscopy for endometriosis, pelvic pain, adnexal pathology
    • Treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding
    • Myomectomy
    • Oophorectomy and salpingectomy
    • Management of pelvic masses
    • Surgical management of gynecologic emergencies as indicated
    • Participate in preoperative evaluation, informed consent, and postoperative care
    • Collaborate with anesthesia, nursing, physicians, and surgical teams to ensure safe and efficient surgical outcome.
    • Maintain compliance with hospital surgical policies, quality metrics, and documentation standards
  • RHC (Rural Health Clinic) Responsibilities
    • Provide outpatient gynecologic care and procedures including:
    • Evaluation and management of abnormal uterine bleeding
    • Contraceptive counseling and procedures (IUDs, implants, sterilization counseling)
    • Office-based procedures (endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, hysteroscopy as applicable)
    • Management of pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, and ovarian cysts
    • Menopause management and hormone therapy
    • Perform procedural care in the RHC setting in accordance with clinical guidelines and scope of practice
    • Provide patient-centered counseling and education regarding gynecologic conditions and treatment options
  • Clinical & Administrative Duties
    • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical pathway development
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including primary care, surgical, and subspecialty services
    • Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or medical students as applicable
    • Participate in department meetings and ongoing professional development
  • Scope of Practice
    • Gynecology-focused practice
    • No routine obstetric care, prenatal care, or labor and delivery coverage required
    • Limited call responsibilities related to gynecologic emergencies only (if applicable)
Gynecologist

Qualifications:
  • Required
    • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
    • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
    • Active (or eligible) state medical license
    • Surgical proficiency in gynecologic procedures
    • DEA license (or eligibility)
  • Preferred
    • Fellowship training or advanced experience in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery
    • Experience working in high-volume surgical and outpatient procedural settings
    • Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based gynecologic care
  • Work Environment
