About the Facility

This 433-bed Level I Trauma Center maintains established clinical infrastructure and protocols to support coordinated cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient and operating room settings. The facility operates on-site and provides the resources necessary to facilitate quality care delivery for the cardiothoracic surgery service line throughout each assigned coverage period. On-site resources are in place to support continuity of care across all designated shifts and call assignments.

The area features renowned horse farms, Keeneland Race Track, and the Kentucky Horse Park, alongside a robust bourbon culture with distillery tours and tastings available at locations such as Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve. Additional attractions include the Lexington Children's Museum, the Lexington Opera House, and a variety of breweries and distilleries within and near the city.

the Clinician's Workday

Clinicians will provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient and operating room settings on a day shift basis, with call and 24-hour call responsibilities required as a condition of this assignment. Call coverage is structured at 1-2 call days per week, with one weekend per month beginning Friday at 7:00 AM through Monday at 7:00 AM; weekend duties include inpatient rounds, procedures, and surgical coverage.

Clinical responsibilities include first assisting in CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, and lung resection cases, as well as telemetry and ICU duties. Additional procedures include surgical CT, vein harvest, and chest tube placement.
