Position: Headache Clinician or Clinician Scientist for UPMC

The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC is seeking a faculty candidate in the Headache Division. The faculty will serve as a clinician or clinician-scientist in the Headache program under the leadership of Dr. Page

B. Pennell, Chair of Neurology and Dr. Robert Kaniecki, Headache Division Chief. Must have an MD or DO degree and have completed a Headache fellowship. The applicant must be board certified/eligible in Neurology and Headache Medicine with the ability to obtain an unrestricted PA license.

  • Collaborate with experienced headache specialists, APPs, fellows, and colleagues across neuro-ophthalmology, neurovestibular care, psychiatry, neurosurgery.
  • Internationally recognized UPMC Concussion program.
  • Engage in a dynamic academic setting that supports multidisciplinary care, clinical innovation, and professional growth.
  • Leverage available clinical research support and contribute to studies that advance headache medicine and improve patient care.
  • Grow as a clinician, educator, and investigator through faculty appointment opportunities, mentorship, and access to strong institutional resources.
About The Department of Neurology and Headache Division at the University of Pittsburgh & UPMC
  • Established in 2000, the UPMC Headache Center provides national and regional referral and consultative services and has become one of the most active clinical operations in the US
  • Completed Headache Center clinical space expansion and renovation in 2019 with patient-centered improvements in waiting and exam room lighting and sound experiences
  • Research funding for clinical, basic, data science, and translational studies in the department has increased steadily and in FY25 the department received over $25 million in research support.
  • The Department of Neurology was awarded the NINDS UE5 to support research training of residents and fellows, "Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuropathology Pittsburgh Research Education Plan (N3-PREP)" and is also part of the NINDS Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials (NeuroNEXT).
