The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Pediatric Gastroenterology candidate for a position as Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics with specialization in colorectal, gastrointestinal motility, aerodigestive and functional GI disorder. The candidate must hold an MD/DO degree, be BC/BE in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Pediatric Gastroenterology and will hold, or are eligible for, an Illinois physician license.

  • Proven acute and ongoing consultative care to children with colorectal, gastrointestinal motility, aerodigestive and functional GI disorders in the hospital and outpatient setting.
  • Participate in teaching medical students, resident and other health professionals
  • Develop & conduct clinical and/or basic research in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology.
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling and administration.
Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP), in collaboration with OSF Health Care Children’s Hospital of Illinois, seeks a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Clinical Pediatrics level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic division committed to clinical excellence, education, and program development across a broad range of pediatric gastrointestinal disorders.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology currently includes eight faculty members and has recently received approval for a new ACGME-accredited Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship program. The division supports several established and expanding clinical programs, including celiac disease, aerodigestive disorders, intestinal rehabilitation, neurogastroenterology/motility, cystic fibrosis care, pediatric intensive feeding program, and childhood obesity management program

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include providing inpatient and outpatient care for children with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions; participation in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; and engagement in clinical, educational, and/or scholarly activities. Faculty members will have opportunities to contribute to the continued growth and development of specialized programs within the division.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold an MD/DO degree, be board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology, and be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated interest or expertise in areas such as motility, aerodigestive disorders, nutrition, intestinal rehabilitation, or functional gastrointestinal disorders is desirable. A commitment to education, quality improvement, and program development is also preferred.

Junior faculty will have significant opportunities for mentorship and professional development, with the ability to engage in multiple new and expanding programs as the division continues to grow its clinical footprint across Illinois and Iowa. This environment offers a strong foundation for building a focused clinical niche, developing academic interests, and contributing to innovative, multidisciplinary care models.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $230,000 to $350,000 per year.
