Endeavor Health is seeking a practicing surgeon leader to serve as Executive Medical Director of Surgical Quality - a key partner to our Department of Surgery who will provide the strategic and operational leadership behind our system-wide surgical quality initiative. This physician executive sets the strategy for surgical quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes across all surgical service lines system-wide.
Working alongside surgeons, hospital and nursing leadership, and quality and operational teams, you will standardize care, reduce clinical variation, and build a durable culture of continuous improvement - while serving as the senior advisor to executive leadership on surgical quality strategy, performance, and accreditation readiness.
Structure: 0.6 FTE administrative, 0.4 FTE clinical. Full time, Monday-Friday, with flexible scheduling. System-wide travel required
Weare open on the specialty. Urology, Plastics, Cardiac, Vascular, General Surgery, ENT, or Thoracic.
Core Responsibilities- Set and lead the system-wide surgical quality and patient safety agenda across all surgical specialties
- Develop specialty-specific clinical pathways and operational playbooks; drive cross-specialty benchmarking to spread best practices
- Own surgical quality and safety metrics, dashboards, and reporting in partnership with analytics and IT (Epic)
- Oversee Morbidity and Mortality Conferences across the system
- Lead safe introduction of new procedures and technologies; partner with risk management on event review and prevention
- Ensure clinical care and documentation meet regulatory and accreditation standards
- Align quality metrics with payer, value-based care, and system goals
- Advance patient access, throughput, and experience across surgical services

- MD or DO from an accredited institution;
Doctorate Medicine Required - Board certification in a surgical specialty within the Department of Surgery - Urology, Plastic Surgery, Cardiac, Vascular, General Surgery, Otolaryngology, or Thoracic
- Illinois medical license or eligibility
- 5+ years of practice with demonstrated leadership in surgical quality improvement
- Experience with clinical quality data, EMR/Epic optimization, and population health
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a collaborative, action-oriented approach
