Clinical Decision Unit / Bay Ridge Emergency/ Maimonides Emergency Department
Assists in providing care on a daily basis for all assigned patients in the Department/Division.
Responsibilities- Performs duties as per the Department/Division “Physician Assistant Delineation of Privileges” after appropriate training and approval by the Chairman
- With approval of supervising physician, orders diagnostic and laboratory tests. Reports results of all clinical and diagnostic findings to supervising physician and with him/her, communicates results of medical examination to patients
- Formulates appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans, writes appropriate orders
- Performs procedures on patients as defined in the Department/Division Delineation of Privileges
- Documents all diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and other relevant information in patient’s chart
- Notifies attending physician of any change of patient’s status or unexpected events requiring direct physician consultation
- Participates in patient care rounds, teaching conferences and appropriate quality assurance meetings
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, compliance, safety, environmental and infection control standards
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, with current NYS licensure and registration. ED experience preferred. Board certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification for Physicians Assistant) BCLS/ACLS certification required.
Valid DEA number. Strongly Preferred, 3-5 years of PA experience in a related area, Critical Care/Emergency Medicine Experience. ACLS & PALS certification, Pediatric experience.
