The RoleThe Collaborative Physician serves as a practicing physician within Midwest Express Clinic and is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while also providing clinical collaboration, oversight, and support for providers across assigned clinic locations in accordance with Indiana and Illinois state regulatory requirements.
In addition to standard physician responsibilities, this role supports quality oversight initiatives, provider collaboration, chart review activities, clinic rounding, and clinical leadership efforts that promote consistency, patient safety, and operational excellence across the organization.
ScheduleThis is a part-time position built around a 4-week scheduling period, consisting of:
- 4 in-clinic shifts seeing patients
- 36 hours in clinic (scheduled by Midwest Express Clinic) for administrative work, shadowing, and evaluations
Specific shift days and times are coordinated with clinic and regional leadership to align with clinic coverage needs.
What You’ll Own Direct Patient Care- Provide direct patient care services within assigned Midwest Express Clinic locations, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and follow-up of patients across all age groups.
- Deliver evidence-based care for acute illnesses, injuries, occupational medicine services, physicals, and other services offered by Midwest Express Clinic.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation within the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with clinic teams to support efficient patient flow and an exceptional patient experience.
- Provide clinical leadership through strong patient care practices, teamwork, and adherence to organizational standards.
- Provide physician collaboration and oversight for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants across clinic locations.
- Serve as a clinical resource for providers regarding patient care decisions, treatment planning, and clinical escalation support.
- Maintain availability through designated communication channels during clinic operating hours to support provider questions and patient care needs.
- Coordinate physician coverage when unavailable to ensure continuity of provider support.
- Support providers in delivering evidence-based urgent care services aligned with organizational standards and clinical protocols.
- Perform chart reviews and prescribing oversight in accordance with Indiana and Illinois collaborative practice requirements.
- Review documentation completeness, clinical decision-making, and compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Maintain and execute collaborative agreements in accordance with applicable state laws and organizational standards.
- Identify trends and opportunities for provider education, quality improvement, and clinical consistency.
- Support development and maintenance of clinical workflows, standards, and protocols in collaboration with operational and clinical leadership.
