Mayo Clinic in Arizona (MCA) provides a rigorous academic environment in an institution undergoing rapid growth. The MCA Advanced Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Program offers comprehensive training in all areas of thoracic surgery.

Highlights of the Program:High surgical volumes: Performs over 650 thoracic surgery cases annually.
Pioneering center

Advanced techniques including robotic thoracic surgery, complex thoracoscopy, minimally invasive pectus repair, chest wall sarcomas, intrapleural chemotherapy for mesothelioma, and complex esophageal disease.
Multidisciplinary clinical practice: We collaborate with a Multi-disciplinary Thoracic Tumor Board to treat a wide range of thoracic malignancies, and with GI, GYN, ENT, renal, and sarcoma disease groups to treat secondary lung malignancies. There are unique opportunities in complex esophageal disease, ECMO/lung failure, and surgical management of cavitary pulmonary coccidioidomycosis which is endemic to Arizona.
Research: Dedicated research time during the fellowship to work on studies, clinical reviews, and national/regional meeting presentations. Monthly meeting with a department-based collaborative research group to improve fellow involvement in ongoing research projects.
