Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal Oncology Surgeon - Tenure track/Rank dependent on qualifications Details

The University of Utah School of Medicine has an opening for a faculty position as an orthopaedic surgeon-scientist with a clinical focus in surgical musculoskeletal oncology. The position will be on the tenure track and the rank will be determined based on the chosen candidate's specific qualifications, background, and career trajectory. The incumbent will become an integral part of a dynamic sarcoma orthopaedic team within an outstanding academic orthopaedic department.

The candidate will also engage in the rich clinical and research environment of the multidisciplinary sarcoma program of the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Minimum requirements include completion of a residency in orthopaedic surgery and a one-year advanced fellowship training in musculoskeletal oncology or sarcoma orthopaedics, or equivalent, plus board certification or board eligibility. Additional advanced training in basic investigation that can support the development of an extra-murally-funded research program is highly recommended.

Each applicant should have a sincere desire to establish an independent scientific enterprise and mentor others to develop focused clinical, research and educational programs in musculoskeletal disorders. Such will include publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at national meetings. Candidates need to have demonstrated an exceptional academic interest and a clear track record of excellence in orthopaedics, including clinical care, education, and science research.
