As Chief, the successful candidate will lead one of the Department of Internal Medicine's largest and most influential divisions while helping to drive the institution's mission of improving health outcomes through patient care, education, discovery, and community engagement.

The Division of General Medicine is the second-largest division within the Department of Internal Medicine and is home to a diverse and collaborative community of physicians, advanced practice providers, scientists, researchers, educators, and professional staff. The Division encompasses the Sections of Medicine/Pediatrics and the Academic Hospitalist Program and maintains a strong reputation for excellence in clinical care, education, health services research, prevention, and healthcare delivery innovation.

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, the Chief will provide strategic, operational, and academic leadership across the Division's clinical, educational, and research missions. The successful candidate will partner closely with departmental and health system leadership to expand programs, enhance operational integration, strengthen faculty development, and advance a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Qualified candidates will possess:

• MD, DO, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine and eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in Michigan
• Board certification in an Internal Medicine subspecialty
• Eligibility for medical staff privileges at Wayne Health and affiliated clinical sites
• A distinguished record of achievement in academic medicine, including clinical care, education, and scholarly activity
• Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic medical center or comparable healthcare environment
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing faculty, trainees, and future physician leaders
• Qualifications suitable for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor
• Additional advanced degrees and demonstrated success leading strategic program growth, service expansion, or academic innovation are highly desirable.
